What DOES 2020 Look Like for Business?

How business coaching can improve vision

With only a few days left before the start of a new year and a new decade, it’s time we went back to the drawing board to plan and prepare for this transition. The good news for SMEs is that time is always on their side. They can adapt, improvise, and improve swiftly to respond to change.

The question is: will they take the time to reflect on the past, learn from their competitors, and make the right decisions? More importantly, how can they accurately identify the changes they need to make?

Perhaps, the blueprint of success lies in looking at things from a different perspective. A business coach can help you grow your business in the shortest amount of time. In fact, most of the successful entrepreneurs we see today have had some help from a coach. Just look at Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Bill Gates – do the names ring any bells? They all consult or have consulted business coaches at some point in their lives.

The thing with business is that there are far too many variables to account for. At the end of the day, you’re not a one-man army and you need the input of someone who’s been there, done that. There are so many pitfalls along the way that figuring them out on your own is a time-consuming task. You could’ve spent this time on acquiring new clients, converting more leads, and growing your bottom line.

What Are Your Plans?

A business coach can help clients by training and mentoring them. This process begins by setting up a meeting where they gather all the data about the business and its overall vision. Once this is completed, a plan is developed and the business owner implements them with the aid of the business coach.

This is usually where the vast majority of time is spent. Once the goals have been figured out, the business coach adopts a different role where he or she ensures that the business owner stays on track with their plan. The time you spend with a business coach ranges anywhere from a few weeks to as long as it takes. This depends on how complex your business goals are.

As the saying goes, it takes two to tango (or more depending on your business). You need a skilled professional to ensure your business doesn’t get derailed in the complicated business climate of today. Another issue is that, sometimes, all one needs is a good “pep talk” from someone who’s been in their shoes to get back on track and become successful.

The return on investment in the business is provided indirectly. A common myth is that business coaches become pseudo “silent partners” of a business and help it grow. Now this can be the case. A business coach is also there to guide, mentor, and introduce a higher level of accountability for the business owner.

The results of coaching depend on the time spent with the coach, the goals to be achieved, and the effort of the business owner.
